Ordinals
Learn the basics of Bitcoin Ordinal inscriptions
A Bitcoin Ordinal is a system that assigns unique serial numbers to individual satoshis (the smallest unit of Bitcoin, 1/100,000,000th of a BTC), allowing them to be tracked, transferred, and inscribed with arbitrary content like images, text, or code. This turns satoshis into Bitcoin-native digital artifacts (NFTs) that are as durable, immutable, and decentralized as Bitcoin itself—stored directly on the blockchain without requiring sidechains or separate tokens.
